The South Carolina Robotics Education Foundation (SCREF) is a South Carolina non-profit corporation and a United States Federal 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity dedicated to the advancement of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education through the use of the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics program developed by the FIRST Foundation of New Hampshire. SCREF is the designated State Affiliate Partner for FIRST Tech Challenge. As such we work with them to implement their program in South Carolina and we work locally to expand and enrich the program in the State.
As of the start of 2015 there were 25 FIRST Tech Challenge teams in South Carolina associated with SCREF. One of the responsibilities of the Affiliate Partners is to develop the region for which they are responsible. The goal of SCREF is expand the State's FTC team count and develop relationships with the Affiliate Partners for both the FIRST Lego League and the FIRST Robobtics Competition in South Carolina. There will also be cooperation with the Affliliate Partners in other states.
SCREF will also develop relationships with educational institutions and industry throughout South Carolina. These relationships are important to provide input to the program but to also establish sponsorships to sustain the program.
